It's the New Year: 2012...the so called beginning of new beginnings: new resolutions, new goals, new plans and new horizons! Don't let this year be one of those "I should have made it to the gym, could have made it to the gym..." Start now and start FRESH!!
I did a great interval workout today and 30 minutes of cardio afterward. I had some drama getting to the gym though...almost through in my towel and cried...but I held on to my hopes of getting in my first workout of the year and I'm very happy that I did.
I couldn't find my keys in the taxi that I took to get to the gym (over here in SW Ontario, the weather is beyond snowy and white. There are literally inches and inches of snow outside, so to walk to the gym was out of question). I panicked, wondering how in the world would I get back to my apartment, or get to school tomorrow, but I thought rationally and asked if the driver could drive me back to my apartment so I could hunt for my keys. This was right in front of my gym and I knew that if I couldn't find my keys, a workout would be beyond impossible...I like to let go of stress when I workout, but this was unreal...and scary.
So the driver took me back to my place and I hunted for my keys and found them at the bottom of my bag. Let me tell you this: I HUNTED AND HUNTED for my keys but couldn't find them when I was five steps from the front door of my gym, but once I'm on home-turf, the keys magically reappear. LORD! I wasted about $15 of cab fare, but I was happy to find them, get my workout on, and bust a sweat-session at the gym.

I hope my posting finds you at a time where you really need to be pushed positively and with encouragement! I struggled with my weight and at my heaviest, I was close to 170lbs. I also was a closet binge eater (I struggled with that for a very long time) and turned to food to medicate myself and to cope with whatever life through my way.
I would like to think of myself as being a great advice go-to person. When the going get's tough, think of little ways to make life easier and more fun! Listen to upbeat music, read a good chick-lit book (I love Sohie Kinsella) and be grateful for everything that you have in your life. Give yourself little rewards for hitting of weight loss milestone or fitness goal (i.e. running 3x a week) or try your hand at running a race.
I found a great way for myself, was to listen to great music to download to my iPod or crank before making way to the gym. Gwen Stephani or DJ Tiesto is a great motivator for me to bust my butt over for my runs or weight sessions.
This also comes at time where you should be loving to yourself and accept with what you are. Be confident and proud of what God gave you and remind yourself that the body you have is the one God wanted you to have. And also remind yourself that is life is your own: go out there and make Him proud!
