I think I can speak for all of us when I talk about relaxing and going with the flow. I have to remind myself of that daily: just to ease up, let go and let some things fall where they may land. I don't know if that's the hot-cold Scorpio in me, but everytime I go where I fear to tread, my body seizes up and I overthink and overanalyze a situation that doesn't have to be overly scary and threatening. I'm a passionate and (can be) hot-tempered person and I have to remind myself to slow down and think logically to remedy a situation or just keep standing.
I think Florence + the Machine's album hit a note for me today. I was up early cleaning my apartment and decided to do a workout at 6am to get a jump start on my day. I just added Ceremonials to my iPod and listened to it while heading to the gym. She is such a strong singer...I wish that I had learned an instrument when I was younger, like taking piano lessons or guitar, or learned how to sing. I always dreamed of being like Gwen Stefani on the cover of her Tragic Kingdom album in her cute red dress, but now I secretly want to be like Florence Welch and wear mysterious, trendy avant-garde fashion and be modelling on every music and fashion magazine in the world.
Welch struggled with depression and talked about "burying the horse in the ground," symbolic lyricism for her depression and dark times, and taking them away from her life and burying them deep beneath the ground. I loved that.
This album was one of the most beautiful albums I own by a female artist. And she's not very old either (25, I believe) so it's so neat to come across a classically trained artist that doesn't succumb to changing who she is and what she believes in.
Today's workout:
20 min stairmill + 20 min run (2.13 miles), 20 min Precor, 30 min walk
