Sometimes, you just have to what you have to do, with what you have and all the courage and passion you can muster.
I saw the rain pelting down this afternoon and I wanted to crawl into a little ball and daydream the afternoon away. But after scoring perfect on my accounting test (fuck yeah!), I knew that a little nap would ruin my high and I gathered my rain gear and headed to the gym.
I'm starting to avoid too much lifting: just focusing on maintaining shape and strength. I did lunges, machine bench press, standing shoulder presses and bentover rows with a weighted bar. Here's what I did:
All exercises done for 3 sets of 8 reps (except chest and back)
1. Standing lunges: w/25s for first two sets, w/30s for the last set
2. Standing shoulder presses: w/25s for first two sets, w/30s for first four reps, 25s for last four reps
3. Machine bench press: 2 x 70lbs
4. Bent-over bar rows: 2 x 80lbs
Cardio was great. I did a 15 min run before weights, then after did 15 min on the stairmill and 30 min run covering 3.30 miles! It was a record for me...felt like I was flying like a cheetah ;)
I have some reviews to write for the paper so, that's keeping me busy tonight (Black Keys, Amy Winehouse, Decemberists and Wilco). I need to score some hours this week and bring home the bacon, lol!
