Four bands bring flavour to London Music Hall this Friday

By Jaymin Proulx

This Friday the 13, let your fear of bad luck dissipate with a line-up of bands that are sure to not disappoint. Arkham Dispatch, Zealots Desire, The Livin’ Art and Motion Groove are hitting up the London Music Hall Lounge January 13, hosted by Concert Promoter Brandon Eedy and Summer Camp Productions.

“The bill is well rounded with some great locals acts giving a little something for everyone. Rock, Garage Rock, Jam Band, and Reggae,” stated Eedy.

“Summer Camp Productions have been in operation in London for 10 years now, putting on great concerts with local area and nationally touring acts. As well as manage, develop, and promote artists and bands from all over Canada. We ran the (now non-existant) Embassy, and then The Salt Lounge (also RIP) and now operate out of the amazing London Music Hall.”

When Arkham Dispatch sat down to describe the event, they were full of enthusiasm and mentioned this night will be their first cd and full length release, titled ‘The Battle of Barrington.’” Members include Alois Halliday on lead vocals, Brett Patterson on bass guitar and vocals, Justin Sears on lead guitar, Jason Harrison on rhythm guitar and Shane Connon on drums.

“We have a pretty diverse selection of music (that we listen to). The focus of our band’s sound is hard rock like Queens of the Stone Age and Foo Fighters. We like hard rock bands with a lot of energy, grittiness and distortion—lot’s of gain on the guitar, a little bit of fuzz and balls to the wall sound,” mentioned Patterson.

“Stuff your mom hates but your dad will love!” Exclaimed Connon.

Connon added they deliberately strive for excellent song writing as well. “We want to bring the best quality we can possibly give.”

Former Fanshawe student Jason Harrison, and guitarist of Arkham Dispatch, studied General Arts and transitioned to UWO to study history and geography.

In terms of the band Zealots Desire, their publicist Heather Morrison, happily informed that Zealots Desire have just released a new CD last month and had a sold out show at Norma Jean’s with My Darkest Days and Jonas and the Massive Attraction. Fanshawe’s Radio Station 106.9 the X is spinning their new cd as well.

“Zealots Desire was invited to perform at Canadian Music Week last year and again coming this year in March. They actually just released their new CD last month and had a wicked release party – a sold-out show at Norma Jean's in London with My Darkest Days & Jonas and the Massive Attraction. They were invited to perform at Canadian Music Week last year and again this year so they've got a ton of great stuff goin on!” Morrison added.

Staylefish vocalist Richard Howard is also bringing some of his energy to a new rock project, called The Livin’ Art.

“We're still waiting on our EP masters but you can hear raw studio stuff in the videos! We just recorded with Steve Rizun (Manager and Producter for The Flatliners) and I’m stoked for my friends in London, the town I’ve lived, at for eight years before moving to Toronto, to hear what I’m doing now!”

The show at the London Music Hall Lounge is $5 advance tickets or $7 at the door. Doors open at 9pm.
